Types of Carriers
Stretchy Wraps: Made of a length of stretchy knit fabric. These are pre-tied on and you would pop baby in and out of it throughout the day without having to redo the entire wrap job. These are excellent for newborns and small babies, they become less supportive around 15 pounds.

Woven Wraps: A length of woven fabric made specifically for wearing a child. A woven wrap is used by tying it into place. They are suitable from newborns all the way on up to preschool aged children, theyr’e the most versatile carrier and there are a variety of different carries possible.

Soft Structured Carriers (SSC): A soft structured carrier is made up of a body panel, a waist belt with a buckle, and shoulder straps (with or without buckles depending on brand). They are very easy to use and there’s no long straps/tails to drag on the ground (like with a mei tai or woven wrap).

Mei Tai (MT): A mei tai is an Asian style carrier that gets tied on. It’s made up of a body panel, a waist with straps to tie, and long arm straps.

Onbuhimo (Onbu): An Onbu is another style of Asian carrier with a Japanese origin. It’s very similar to a mei tai, the difference being instead of a tie waist it has rings on both sides that the arm strap get threaded through.

Podaegi (Pod): An Asian style baby carrier of Korean origin. It is similar to a mei tai, the difference being it is a back panel with just arm straps and no true waistband.

Pouch Sling (Pouch): A sling without rings, usually NOT adjustable so sizing is very important. These can be difficult to use correctly, especially with newborns.

Ring Sling (RS): A length of fabric with two rings sewn into one end. Meant for one shoulder carries, excellent for quick ups and downs when running errands.
